Food Not Bombs
Food Not Bombs is an all-volunteer global movement that shares free vegan meals as a protest to war and poverty. Each chapter collects surplus food that would otherwise go to waste from grocery stores, bakeries and markets, as well as donations from local farmers, then prepares community meals which are served for free to anyone who is hungry. The central beliefs of the group are:
- Always vegan or vegetarian and free to everyone.
- Each chapter is independent and autonomous and makes decisions using theconsensus process.
- Food Not Bombs is dedicated to nonviolence.
Anyone who wants to cook may cook, and anyone who wants to eat may eat. Food Not Bombs strives to include everyone
We share free food every other Saturday at 3:30 at New St Birmingham City Centre, outside tesco and Starbucks if weather is fine or outside HSBC bank if raining. Our contact number is 07904-529-362

We are involved in groups supporting refugees and asylum seekers (ie Women Asylum Seekers Together, North West Coalition of Anti Deportation Campaigns) and so we are looking to provide food at anti-deportation demos, protests outside of detention centres etc where there are a lot of often destitute asylum seekers and their families.
We also distribute our goodies at stalls at Critical Mass etc as a way of getting more people involved in bigger cook-ups and actions.
